Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, never dreamed that visible panty lines and uncomfortable g-strings would inspire her to become an inventor.  But in 1988 when she first cut out the feet of her panty hose to help her look great in her slacks, the idea was born.  In 1998 she received her first patent and the rest is history.

Spanx was created to reshape women’s lives and bodies with designs that slim and smooth and won’t constrict or pinch.  Spanx combines the comfort of underwear, the feel of hosiery and the use of a shaper to make you look your best.

Sara Blakely is dedicated to the empowerment of women and in 2006 Sara launched the Sara Blakely Foundation.  She understands the importance of having access to the right resources that enable you to make a vision a reality.  With a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Spanx she hopes to help women all over the world.
